A specialty insurance broker with a proud sixty-year history, renowned for providing bespoke insurance cover for niche industries, is seeking to hire an Office Manager. Having built a significant business our client sees tremendous potential for further client development in this space and with their commercial team currently understaffed, they are seeking an experienced Commercial Broker to develop the book and manage our office.

The Role: As our Office Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our business. In your first 12 months, you will:

  • Improve administration, compliance, and overall office operations, surpassing the efficiency of our Managing Director.
  • Address HR needs and optimize staffing.
  • Identify and leverage our business strengths and address weaknesses.
  • Relieve the MD of administrative burdens and ensure smooth office operations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, driving business growth.
  • Achieve a business growth target of 10-20% in your first year.
  • Maintain business stability and functionality.
  • Innovate and identify new products, especially in expanding our aviation schemes.
  • Oversee compliance monitoring and networking, particularly for schemes in France.
  • Manage daily office functions, including staff supervision, KPI tracking, meetings, and documentation for business growth strategies.

The Person: You are an experienced professional with:

  • 5-10 years in Commercial Lines Broking.
  • Experience working with mature, tenured staff, with some nearing retirement.
  • Strong training background and the ability to collaborate with a seasoned Commercial Lines team.
  • CIP qualification and proficiency with Applied Relay.
  • Initiative, self-sufficiency, and the capability to manage independently without extensive handholding.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at selling, negotiating, and retaining clients.
  • Experience with innovative approaches to renewals and new business processing.
  • A self-motivated attitude, suitable for a small office environment.

The Team: As the Commercial Lines/Office Manager, you will lead and work alongside a dedicated team of two experienced staff members. You will report directly to our Managing Director, whose relaxed and personable management style fosters a strong, service-led business environment with a well-established client base.
