The Background
Owing to a recent restructuring in a large multinational insurer, the Chief Risk Officer is seeking to hire two Senior Risk Managers on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis which will free the CRO up to work on a specific project.
The Role
Throughout the 12-month contract, you will have taken responsibility for liaising with several external consultants, specifically focusing on change within the organisation at a group level; delivered on a set of key deliverables; led out on business as usual for EU Risk regulations under a higher prism rating; enhanced the Risk Framework; led out on updates from the CBI rules and briefed other functions on these; participated in different things every day in a “sink or swim” environment where you’ll be expected to figure some things out for yourself.
The Person
You are a highly numerate individual possibly a Part Qualified/Fully Qualified Accountant or Actuary who’s keen to move in a different direction. You are ideally Big Four or consultancy trained, are used to lots of change and can demonstrate your ability to deliver on projects on your own or whilst leading a team to get them over the line. You’re bright, possess exceptional attention to detail and have been responsible previously for delivering on projects such as the preparation of a recovery plan for insurers or experience delivering a risk appetite framework for an insurance company. With your consultancy background, you’re used to jumping in on things where there have been specific deliverables that you had to meet and you understand and can take ownership of that level of responsibility. You get along easily with other people, are unafraid to speak up and develop relationships which allow you to get things done.
The Team
You’ll join an established Risk team with four others and report directly to the Chief Risk Officer who’s been with the company for the past 12 years and whose management style is direct, upfront, transparent and fair.
