Commercial Account Handler – Property Insurance

Website campbelrochford Campbell Rochford

The Background
Our client are a boutique Northside Insurance broker with an array of small, medium and large Property risks on their books and a 93% retention rate on their Property Owners product. They have reached a stage where owing to increased volume of risks and having fine tuned the Commercial Account Executive role to capacity, they seek to hire an Account Handler who can support their Account Executive in retaining and developing the growing book of business.

The Role
In your first 12 months in this position you will:

  • Achieve a high acquisition/conversion rate for all targeted enquiries (typical conversion rates are 44-50%)
  • Worked with their Property Owners Insurance Scheme clients (private landlords) and with the Irish Property Owners Association which represents about 2500 members.
  • Dealt with 5-20 enquiries daily, concentrated on the specifics of each risk, covered a very detailed question set with the landlords and then chosen the correct insurer for that client whilst ensuring that the risks are brokered correctly.
  • Gotten to know Landlord Insurance inside out, the nuances to each property risk presented, in particular on the bigger ticket properties (could be older or newly built) and more familiar with the granular, nitty gritty details.
Made sure that the product offered matches the risk with no grey areas (eg ensuring that the landlords have an electrical cert for their property).
  • Spent 50% of their time working on new business and 50% on existing business but over time leaning more towards one or the other.
  • Dealt with an array of commercial lines enquiries of which Property makes up 65% with the balance being smaller commercial lines – Shops, Offices, SME, Engineering & D&O risks.

The Person
You have at least five years consecutive commercial lines broking experience with one broker and are familiar with Property risks and other Commercial Lines. You’re able to get quickly up to speed and to work in compiling submissions for a risk on a word document (as opposed to a question set). You have a broad based expertise on commercial lines but with specific knowledge of property being developed over time. You are minimum CIP qualified, self motivated, enthusiastic and are happy to work in an environment where you will be learning every day. You have an aptitude for dealing with large volumes of work with ease and accuracy and the ability to speak with clarity and compose emails with accuracy.

The Team
You’ll be joining a small team of eight including three Directors, four Commercial Lines Brokers and one Life & Pensions Broker. You’ll report directly into the MD but support a Commercial Account Executive. You’ll work in a very fair and flexible working environment where you’ll be working from home the majority of the time but with an expectation that you’ll be in the office every second Wednesday with all of your colleagues. You’ll initially train and induct in the office learning the procedures but some of your training may be conducted virtually.

The Opportunity
If you like Property Insurance and would like to be an expert in that niche, this is quite a lucrative space to be in. You’ll receive an enormous amount of training and knowledge and insight at every level from the lower ticket risks up to €300-500k. You’ll get invaluable exposure to bring with you anywhere you want to go in your career and will receive lots of inhouse and remote training to bring your level of understanding of Property risks to new levels. This is a recession proof, sustainable business where the ethos is not based on winning business at all costs but on winning the right business that is serviced appropriately.

The Package
Base Salary in the €45-60k range (commensurate with experience) + €500 Christmas Bonus
