The Background
Our client are a new dynamic forward thinking Insurance Broker, backed with circa 40 years technical expertise serving the Irish market, with market leading relationships with all key insurers in both Ireland and the UK. The key differentiator is their personal service and support they provide to clients. They believe in building real client relationships through a tailored service, expert professional advice and efficient resolution of claims. With the business on track to hit their revenue goal for this year and one eye toward 2024, they are seeking to hire a Commercial Account Executive to bolster their existing team.
The Role
You will establish a presence in the market and absorbed or paid for a large portion of the costs by bringing in new business.
You’ll influence and impart meaningful discussions with the right people in insurance companies to get things done. You’ll take the administration piece off the MD’s desk and will deal with clients with multiple lines of business of cover and can bind and navigate ways around the insurers to speak with the proper underwriters regarding the appropriate lines of cover (post trade, standalone fleet, retail) and deal professionally with finance and claims related queries. You’ll also issues invoices and mid term adjustments and any associated administrative duties, especially dealing with any prior notifications and any ad hoc non revenue productive activities that might alleviate the MD.
The Person
Can contribute at least 50% of your salary in new business in year one and has demonstrable ability to conduct new business and get renewals over the line. You have a Commercial Lines background and have dealt with a portfolio of clients that you’re responsible for and have day to day engagement with. You’ve had responsibility for dealing with insurance companies on behalf of those clients and are Relay proficient. You may also have some proficiency with online marketing tools (such as those that insurers have and some familiarity with premium finance/credit. You can either bring business with them or knock on doors to develop it and are minimum APA/CIP qualified with enthusiasm for picking up the phone, knocking on doors and getting yourself out there. You’re a problem solver with initiative and aren’t seeking a handholding environment.
The Team
You’ll report into the Managing Director who is very hands on when it comes to problem solving/issues/advice but is a firm believer in team work and training and who can impart confidence to others to help them make decisions. He knows how underwriters think, what makes a good risk and how to present it and you will learn a lot from him as his underwriting background means he can impart knowledge other brokers simply cannot.
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a new, up and coming dynamic broker where the opportunities are completely open and with a lot of new initiatives coming though (Alternative Energy Insurance Programme). You’ll work in a very flexible environment with the chance to come in and build up a book and put your stamp on it. Our client has partnered with a number of exclusive client and capacity partners and have arrangements in place that are the envy of the market. You’ll have the opportunity to help this business grow with the potential for ownership down the line but it’s up to you to take on that challenge. Having started the business with a blank sheet in September 2022, this company have secured agencies will all of the major insurers and some significant diverse clients within the retail, haulage, manufacturing, property owners, hotels and hospitality sector.
The Package
Base Salary in the €50-60k range with a performance based bonus paid annually and with a commission structure based on agreed targets. Additional benefits will include Life Insurance and DIS with fully study support.
