With potential retirements and expansion plans for 2022, a well established Insurance Broker is seeking to hire a Commercial Account Executive to grow the account and inherit a pre-established book in due course.
As a Commercial Account Executive in Dungarvan, in Year One you’ll work alongside the Commercial Lines Executive on his accounts, inherit an existing book, ensure retention of same and will bring in new business across Commercial Lines. You’ll grow the book by tapping into other geographies around Tipperary, Clonmel, Cashel etc. You’ll uncover new business from established businesses who are open to transferring this business and you’ll have weekly meetings with the Commercial Manager and you’ll have managed the book in a very professional and compliant manner. You will ensure that the clients are aware of any exclusions and are happy with the policies and will take ownership of the existing files whilst going after any old clients you may have post 12 months. The most important thing is that you’ll have written new business and maintained the inherited book compliantly.
You are minimum CIP qualified with at least three years Commercial Lines Sales experience and are a sound advisor to your clients, able to spot the policies to walk away from. You have a good knowledge of the difficulty with wordings around material damage policies with shops and are able to adapt to bespoke statements of suitability (our client write one for each policy and it’s up to the Account Executive to advise the client on sums insured, different warranties and be very clear and concise with the clients.) You will be able to highlight the exclusions on a policy, advising on what’s covered/not and are aware of certain conditions and claims around commercial insurance wordings. You have a good reputation as a Commercial broker and are well got in the underwriting market. You have an appetite to want to make this work for you over the next 3-5 years and can make relationships that flourish. You are a go getter who wants to get out and build up referrals and grow the business and can show initiative to go after opportunities. You have a clear strategy on how you want to develop the business and will fit in comfortably in an easygoing office.
You’ll be joining an established office with 8 staff including 2 in Commercial Lines who manage all commercial and farm business.
You’re joining a branch office generating €4.3M GWP (€1M in income) of which 70% is generated from Personal Lines, where there always will be opportunities for progression and where ambition will never be ignored. You’re joining an Irish brokerage that is locally (family) owned and controlled and won’t be sold to any external capital investors. It’s a family owned business where people can approach the Directors with any challenges or problems they might have and will be treated in a fair and empathetic manner. This is a brokerage that bought four other brokers within the past 18 months and are currently running fifteen offices across the Munster/Leinster region, with plans to expand further in Dublin and Limerick. You’ll have the opportunity to tap into the potential in the area and to grow a hub yourself with the possibility of becoming the Commercial Manager of a team in Dungarvan with 3-4 reports under you.
The Reporting Line
You’ll report directly into the Branch Manager (promoted in 2019) who joined the business in 2010 and will work alongside one other Senior Commercial Broker. The management style is direct communication with no fuss.
Base Salary will be dependent on the experience of the candidates and our client offers a Commercial careers programme which means that depending on the level of incoming business, you’ll get a percentage of the fee income and a percentage of the growth of the book. They’ll also offer a DC pension, Life Assurance, PHI (Permanent Health Insurance) and 22 days annual leave.
